Problems In A Home That Can’t Be Foreseen Part Two

If you’ve been following our previous blog series, you already know that our previous topic revolved around problems in a home that can’t usually be foreseen by a licensed home inspector unless you specifically ask them to double check it. Here are a few more things to make sure your home inspector takes a look at when inspecting the home of your dreams.

  1. Electrical problems can be hard to catch. The visual inspection can usually determine if the electrical outlets are in working condition or not. If there is an electrical issue, it is more than likely you can figure out if there is a problem during your inspect. If you can’t figure out the cause of the issue, you at least know you need to call an electrician to fix the issue.

  2. Structural issues are usually easy to notice! Though structural flaws are usually noticeable, it takes a true specialists to know how serious the damage is and what it will cost to get it repaired. If you are truly in love with the house you’re under contract to buy, it’d be a good idea to get a second opinion from a licensed structural engineer.

  3. Leaks are sometimes hard to notice. If the home you’re looking at has had the water shut off for some time, it can take more than a couple days of running the water to notice that there is a leak somewhere. It is always good to take precautions when buying a house if the water has been shut off for a while.
