Dream Building – Project Conceptualization & Project Mentorship

My company, Winding River Inspection Services, has been inspecting and remodeling homes and commercial buildings since 1999 and the whole reason I started it was that I love helping people achieve their dreams. Recently, I’ve realized that much of the community may not fully understand the magnitude and scope of my skillset that I have gained over the course of my career.  In the early days of our marriage, Connie and I began remodeling, buying and flipping homes. Following that, I went on to become an inspector and later became a nationally licensed general contractor. In the years that followed, we built several custom homes. After building a home, we realized there were things we could have done better or could add or improve after living in the home. We all know that those types of changes can have a major impact on enjoying the property.  It’s always been my hobby and obsession to do projects, and Connie never fails to come up with new ways to improve our home and property. Many of you have shared that you would like to make similar changes, but don’t know how or don’t have the confidence.

Over the past few months, I have had people reach out for help on projects well outside of their comfort zones. One example was lifting a foundation on a 100-year-old house where the supporting beams had rotted. Another was taking out old recessed lighting and installing updated LED throughout the property. Replumbing a well system after a lightning strike, switching a kitchen cabinet to floating shelves and adding a custom range hood.  Another example was a full-scale commercial complex neglected maintenance rehabilitation project that increased the appraised value from 2.2 to 6 million. Having friends and clients ask for help has reignited my passion for doing this type of work. Through my company during inspections, I frequently help people envision improvement options which has led to remodeling a kitchen or bathroom and even adding more living space to existing homes. My phone frequently rings for assistance to troubleshoot problems that have appeared, like doors that aren’t closing, cracks in the drywall, and water stains. Over the years, I’ve designed and helped dream-build additional outdoor spaces, sunrooms, pergolas, decks, patios and water features.

There’s been a lot of change in real estate in the past few years. One thing I’ve noticed is that many people who were considering moving are now opting to stay put. I have decided to return to my roots and offer to work alongside people to improve on what they currently have. So, I’m asking if you are already taking a second look at your property maybe consider how I can fit into your plans and be a resource so you can finish the project. Below are some ways I can help you transform your kitchen, bathroom, or other living areas in the house, or repair/replace your deck or patio, or create more storage. Let’s talk about doing a project together.

Maintaining and improving homes and buildings can be hard, but it can also be fun and rewarding, especially when your own dreams pay off when you sell the property.
