New Construction Inspection

Having a house built is probably the one of the most stressful periods you will be subject to in your life, however, it is very rewarding and worth the trouble. Few people will go through the planning, construction and finishing phases without any problems. A professional home inspector will substantially reduce the risk of your large investment in a new home. It just makes sense to use every resource available at your disposal for the preparations, site work, construction phases and all the little things that occur during construction, and learn as much as you can about the quality of your new home, before signing off on everything. Our services will provide you the valuable information you need, so you can enjoy the experience and gain the Peace of Mind you deserve. Building a new home is a tremendously complex endeavor. It involves many people, usually split up into sub-contractor groups, each working on different parts and systems of the house. Even for the best builders, it’s nearly impossible to complete this process without missing something. Maybe it’s a plumbing fixture that didn’t get tested for leaks, maybe it’s an electrical box that isn’t working, or any one of dozens of minor problems that can easily be overlooked in such a major undertaking. We will find such problems while it is still early enough for you to bring them up with the builder and have them corrected before construction gets to the next step and before you sign off. There is a wide range of Phase Inspections we can provide you. Each customer has their own comfort level, with regards to our services. Some want us there daily at the beginning, while others prefer our standard 5 Step New Home Construction Phase Inspections. What ever your wishes are, we can customize a plan to meet your needs. For the relatively small cost, a professional inspection of your new dream home can pay big dividends in peace of mind by getting any problems identified and corrected before they can become an unpleasant surprise. We'll provide you with an inspection report for each phase of the inspection. This is a great tool for you. Remember, the local Code Enforcement Officer is not trained to conduct home inspections, so why would you not want to protect your investment?

When Building A Home....

Some Things Are Obvious...                                             But Some Things Are Not!

Why would a New home need to be inspected? Many things can go wrong during new construction which could take years to surface and prove costly to the homebuyer if left undetected. Municipal inspectors verify the minimum code compliance on a limited time schedule. Bank inspectors only verify each phase has been completed. Some builders have quality control personnel who review the project at the final phase: however, not every aspect of the subcontractor's work is visible at this time.

Examples of possible deficiencies:

Void in Lintel                         Potential Fire Hazard                          Improperly Installed H-Clip

Inadequate Bearing                                   Reinforcing Steel Cut (in field)                             Contaminated Fill Dirt
Support for Roof Trusses                                       by Structural Engineer

Winding River Home Inspection Services serves as the Buyer's advocate, overseeing the construction to ensure their home is compliant with the Building Code and plan specifications, with an eye towards workmanship.
